Francesco Silvani

Francesco Silvani (pseudonym: Frencasco Valsini; * around 1660 in Venice, † 1728-1744) was an Italian librettist.

Silvani was actually Abt 1682/83 he joined under the anagram Frencasco Valsini first time as a librettist to the public; 1691-1716 he wrote under his real name, almost every year libretti for several Venetian Theater. 1699-1705 he was in the service of Carlo IV Gonzaga, Duke of Mantua, but he seems to still have mostly stayed in Venice. The highlight of his career he reached in the years 1708-1714, when he worked for the Teatro San Giovanni Grimani a Gristomo, which was considered as the most important theater in Venice.
