Profile:

Oboist, viola da gamba player and pedagogue (died February 11, 2006 at 67 years old).
After graduating from the Curtis Institute of Music in 1961, he served as Principal Oboist in many prestigious ensembles including the National Symphony Orchestra, the Chamber Symphony Of Philadelphia and the Puerto Rico Symphony. He was also an active recitalist, having performed numerous solo engagements with the Philadelphia Chamber Symphony during and after his tenure there and appeared with the Casals Festival Orchestra, the Chicago Little Symphony and at Carnegie Hall. Caldwell was Professor of Oboe at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music from 1971-2006.
