The Meads Of Asphodel

Profile:

The Meads Of Asphodel is a British experimental black metal band with medieval and middle-eastern overtones.

Conceived in 1998 by Metatron as a "unique myriad of colliding musical styles tethered to a black metal spine". Initial recordings began when Jaldaboath (aka James Fogarty) joined the project, and the duo released the well received cassettes "The Bemoaning Of Metatron" (1998), "Metatron And The Red Gleaming Serpent" and "The Watchers Of Catul Hyuk" (both 1999).

Jaldaboath left the project in 2002 due to a disagreement with Metatron regarding the future direction of the band - unperturbed, Metatron contacted guitarist James Tait and by 2003 a stable roster of Core musicians was completed by the addition of drummer Urakbarameel, as well as regular contributors such as former Hawkwind members Alan Davey and Huw Lloyd-Langton, Sigh (2)'s Mirai Kawashima as well as members of History Of Guns, Ragnarok (2) and Thus Defiled.
