John Semien & The Opelousas Playboys

Cajun band from California, founded in 1964 by accordionist John Semien and drummer George Broussard. The band also featured Ben Guillory on fiddle and Jr. Felton on guitar. All the band members had relocated from Louisiana to the Bay Area.

In the 1970s Semien returned to Louisiana to record an album for La Louisianne Records. Even though the album was titled "John Semien and His Opelousas Playboys," the musicians on the record were not his regular bandmates but local Louisiana musicians.
