Cyclope Espion

Profile:

Cyclope Espion ([siklɔp ɛspjɔ̃]) was born as the brainchild of a France-born elusive DIY singer/songwriter.

Outsider tendencies gave way to reflective, perceptive, and sincere songs, written by this self-taught artist whose modest working class upbringing and nomadic lifestyle brought from France to New York, the vanguard of a scene that once nurtured his musical taste.

He has played live over the years with various New York groups: bassist for Skinny Bones (who wrote songs for the Ramones), rhythm guitarist for East Village local legends the Bowery Boys for 2 years, he also performed with Street Rock artist David Peel (who was himself produced by John Lennon and Yoko Ono), played on stage at the Bitter End (NYC's oldest rock venue) with Dresden Dolls' drummer Brian Viglione, opened for Brody Dalle of the Distillers at the Bell house in Brooklyn, etc...

However, it was his lo-fi (under the Cyclope Espion stage name) solo tracks that caught the attention of seasoned producer Nate Kohrs. The subsequent collaboration and recordings stayed true to the raw honesty encapsulated in Cyclope Espion's motto, "One eye, one glance, one take."

Cyclope Espion's album "Friday Night Epitaph" was voted on of the 10 Best Independent Release of the year by Music critic Lisa Whealey for Independent Clauses in the USA, it was also featured on the playlist of the MoMa (Museum of Modern Art)'s store in New York City .

The deluxe limited edition CD release comes with an extra track, a 16 pages booklet featuring liner-notes, lyrics, as well as photographs inspired by the music, and the song "Le Boa" which is not available on the digital download version of the album
