Gurmukh Singh Gill (1952 - 2008) was a famous Punjabi lyricist. He was born on 12 September, 1952 in the village of Jabbomajra, Dist. Sangrur to parents Sardar Inder Singh Gill and Mata Hardial Kaur. Gurmukh was educated up to grade eight in his school in his village and completed tenth grade from nearby village Bhurthala Mander. He then pursued higher studies and earned a B.A. degree from Government College, Malerkotla in 1974. Gurmukh had a keen interest in writing songs from when he was very young. During his studies in Malerkotla he became a pupil of renowned Punjabi poet, Gurdev Singh Maan, and after his tutelage Gurmukh was more popularly known as "Gill Jabbomajre Wala". During his career he worked with many Punjabi singers such and penned many famous songs such as "Akhan'ch Najaiz Vikdi", "Ni Putt Jattan Da Hall Vahunda Vadde Tarhke Da", "Jatti Chitle Kabootar Vargi", "Amb Da Boota", "Vairi Noo Udham Singh Phire Labhda". Gurmukh Singh Gill unexpectedly died on 19 January, 2008.
