The Rigbees

Profile:

The Rigbees are a band formed by Steve Brown in 1993 in Willow Grove, PA after graduating from the University of Notre Dame (IN) and moving back to his hometown. Brown designed the band as a vehicle to perform his original songs (which he'd been composing since the sixth grade) which he composed and sometimes performed alone on solo acoustic guitar. The band has included various recording and performing members since its inception, with Brown being the only constant member in the band's history. The Rigbees were a fixture of the Philadelphia music scene and performed extensively from the late '90s through the 2000's. They headlined some of the tri-state area's most prestigious venues and shared the stage with numerous national touring acts. The band played it's last official show in November of 2010 after which it took a hiatus from live performance. Brown has continued to write new material, some of which may be recorded and released by The Rigbees in the future.

To date, The Rigbees have released two full-length CDs (2002's "AM Radio Companion" and 2006's "Treading Water In An Angry Ocean") on Brown's self-run label, Rigbee Records/Flare Gun Music. Other releases by The Rigbees include: a self-released 1997 demo cassette tape and CDR entitled "Years Fell Down;" a cover of Bruce Springsteen's "Rosalita" which The Rigbees contributed to a Face Down Records compilation CD entitled "About A Girl" in 2007; and a cover of The Who's "So Sad About Us," which also incorporated a section of "A Quick One (While He's Away)," which was attributed to "Steve Brown" and included on the Face Down Records compilation CD entitled "Who's Not Forgotten" in 2004. In 2003, The Rigbees also released a two-track CD entitled "Back To You (Song For Mallory)," with proceeds going to a memorial commemorating the life of a friend's child who tragically passed away at less than a year old.
