In 1925, Ben Bernie used the same name as alias for Ben Bernie And His Hotel Roosevelt Orchestra when it was featured in an early sound movie by Lee de Forest, called "Ben Bernie And All The Lads." That earlier ensemble included pianist Oscar Levant and saxophonist Jack Pettis and usually performed at the Hotel Roosevelt in New York City.
