Andy Daniel

Real Name:Andy Daniell
Profile:

Andy Daniell, the fresh faced 20 year old DJ and new talent to join Defected’s roster has experienced what all aspiring DJ’s wish for – a chance to become the resident for one of the most respected house labels in the UK - Defected Records. From work experience to Resident in 6 weeks, this is the example that it can happen for you, and in the case of Andy, it has.

As well as being a DJ, Andy has already started on his production career. He has already released 2 tunes so far. The first by 'Slightly' called 'Doin it' ended up on Lee Burridges 24:7 Global Underground comp, his second tune which is much more vocal quality house sounding has already been played out by some of the biggest names. It was produced in conjunction with Cosmic a well known promoter and producer and is picking up plays from Joey Negro, Bobby & Steve, Paul 'Trouble' Anderson, and Dimitri from Paris amongst others. This cut was soon played on radio 1 from by the Dreem Teem on their new soulful sessions show. It has also picked up plays on the Galaxy Network from the Slammin’ Boys. Not bad for his second record.

After hooking up with Defected Andy was given the chance to be their Ibiza resident for the 2004 season, a chance he jumped at. During the 3 month season Andy played to 1,500 people, every Friday, alongside many of the DJ’s that he had always looked up to. He shared billings at El Divino with Junior Jack & Kid Crème, Sandy Rivera, Martin Solveig, Dimitri from Paris, Hardsoul & Copyright among others. Whilst in Ibiza Andy also played sets at Base Bar & Bora Bora, the highlight was Andy rocking 2,000 people at Bora Bora in the blazing sun all to be captured on film for a Defected DVD. He also mixed the Defected Eivissa sampler CD, 10,000 of which were distributed throughout Ibiza during the 2004 season.

Andy has the ability to play amazing warm up sets as well as rocking the dancefloor peak time. His style varies from deep and soulful, though to Latin and beat driven, sometimes touching on electronic. It’s an anything goes style that has seen Andy getting applause from all corners, including being one of the ‘Mixmag’ best Ibiza breakthrough DJ’s. His skills have also been extended to the airwaves. Andy also presents the Defected show on Ministry of Sound radio.

Andy is currently working in Sandy Rivera’s studio on some new material. Look out for him hitting a record shop or dancefloor near you very soon!
