American soul guitarist born 3 June 1936 (Grenada, Mississippi), died 20 August, 2018 (Gore Springs, Mississippi).
Willis played electric guitar and occasional electric sitar for Motown's in-house studio band, The Funk Brothers, during the 1960s and early 1970s. Playing in tandem with Robert White, Joe Messina and others, Willis was known for his parts on Motown classics such as The Temptations' "The Way You Do the Things You Do," The Supremes' "You Keep Me Hanging On," The Marvelettes' "Please Mr. Postman" and Stevie Wonder's "I Was Made to Love Her."
