Eric Trosset, founder and owner of Comet Records, has released a stream of albums by many of the key players at the cutting edge of Afrobeat and electronic music. These include Tony Allen (Black Voices & Psycho on Da Bus), the sound activist Doctor L, Donso, Theo Parrish & Eska, Afro beat makers and the Disco Afro Series.
Comet also develops, manages and represents projects and artists searching for new sounds and creating an avant-garde alternative to the staid world music approach.
The label has been collaborating with artists such as the highlife legends Ebo Taylor & Pat Thomas, on album projects with The Rocket Juice and The Moon, supergroup made up of Damon Albarn, Tony Allen and Flea, exploring the afrotech sound with Moritz Von Oswald and Tony Allen, dipping into the avant-garde scene in Sao Paolo, alongside the artist Meta Meta; overseeing a ground-breaking collaboration between Tony Allen and the Detroit techno legend Jeff Mills (Blue Note Records 2018)
Most recently Eric signed on Comet singer,composer and songwriter Edoardo Florio Di Grazia, his debut album due to be out in 2023.
In 2022, Comet Records present a new jazz reissue series with this cult French Free Jazz LP from 1974, Crowded with Loneliness by Full Moon Ensemble following by the second release Noel McGhie’s only full- length LP, Space & Spies released in France in 1975 at cult private label Disques Esperance and last but not least Dilijans by Ayizan. a mind-blowing session of Spiritual Jazz recorded in NYC in 1984 led by Haitian genius Alix Pascal blending traditional Ra Ra elements with modal/spiritual melodies.
