Studio located in the basement of the famous all music building in 1650 Broadway, New York
Allegro was initially a demo studio for Kama Sutra, that was located at the same address in those days.
When Laurie Records took over the studios, they asked Bruce Staple to run the studios for them.
Staple replaced the old equipment step by step. The Scully tape machines changed from 4 track to 8 track in 1964, to 16 track in 1965 and 24 in 1968. So Allegro was a 'State of the Art' studio with custom build desk.
A problem was the subway that ran below, so they often needed to wait till the train had passed.
Rod McBrien worked there in the middle of the 60s.
The studio was frequently booked by Tommy James & The Shondells
In 1972 the studio was renamed to Generation Sound Studios
