      This was a bit of a shock when I bought it in 2008. It's far more 80s than I was expecting from the band. It's awkward at times. The band seem a bit forced on the more electronic songs. The piano driven songs are great again. It's all crammed into a single platter for good measure!

        I love this album and recently picked it up on vinyl. I have a bad habit of reading the reviews as I’m scanning my newest addition… that said, I was reading about the S hissing. listening now an they’re driving me bonkers.

          I used to have the original pressing of this and the sibilance/distortion was way worse on that one - right from the start of the first side, literally starting with the percussion in the first bar of Spiralling and going all through the first side (Better Than This was particularly bad). There's a touch of it here, too, but only in the odd moments when the vocals are isolated. If you listen to the digital version, the vocals are mixed to sound really weirdly bright to begin with - I think this is about as good as a pressing of this album could sound without being completely remastered or even remixed.

            Horrible sibilance, especially towards the end of each side.
            A6 sounds unbearable, each "s-sound" sounds like a "sh" instead

                I wish I read the reviews before buying. Horrible sibilance. Badly mastered for vinyl. Avoid, unless you just want it to complete your Keane collection.

                  Some songs sound OK, but many have absolutely horrible sibilance, this is a very weird pressing.

                        As mentioned in previous reviews, the album itself is good, but the pressing is bad. In a fair number of spots it is downright awful too with some of the worst sibilance and distorted vocals that I’ve heard on vinyl. But then a few songs sound halfway decent with no major issues. The mastering on this one really makes no sense. For what it’s worth, the jacket is decent and the vinyl is super thick and heavy. Anyway, skip this one for sure.
