Nitzer Ebb – That Total Age

This sounds great just like the original CD. It doesn't sound like they tampered with the original sound at all and I can't hear clipping of any kind. That's almost unheard of for a modern reissue.

Fantastic sounding pressing. A bit fuller in the low to low-mid compared to the US Geffen CD, which is also excellent.

This Sonopress is good, but not as full in the low to low mid, therefore sounding thinner overall. A bit more edge on top as well.

Well made record, but I think they abused (a little) with the multiband compressor (especially in the high frequencies). But everything else is great! Bassy, punchy and aggressive!
This type of songs doesn't need dynamic range, it's made to make you hit and kick!

I have a press kit promo version that included a photograph. Doesn't seem to be listed here. Anyone else came upon a similar copy?

The superior edition. Almost every copy I've ever seen has a gold promo stamp and hole-punched cover, bargin-bin gold from my youth.

most bands hope to make one big "hit" single in their careers, or at least a decent record. this record contains 3 stone cold classics that still kick unbelievable ass 25 years later, in my mind qualifying this as a pure dance music masterpiece....funny, I thought "Join in the Chant" was the weirdest thing I had ever heard when I was 13, boring and annoying yet also strangely hypnotic and irresistible. now I see it as the visionary mix of pop, minimal synth and punk that it is. Murderous and Let Your Body Learn still fill my veins with brimming vitality and energy.

what else can someone say to one of the best releases of this world for the EBM genre, a release that was groundbraking at the end of the 80s, that was still great in the 90s, that was a masterpiece and influenced for the 2000s and today is still alive... i think this release will also be "up to date" in 20 future-years

Nitzer Ebb's power establishment record. The one that remains in everyone's mind as the definitive album. It spawned the monster hit "Join In The Chant" which made it quite ok to dance to industrial on a dance floor. With help from members of Front 242 this full on assault of vocals and synths truly made an impact on what electronic music was to become. Extensive touring with fellow bandmates Depeche Mode cemented their notoriety. The honesty that Douglas McCarthy has in his voice is rare for the music Nitzer Ebb created. Many chastized their ever changing styles and even coined them as sell outs when "Big Hit" was released, which in all true cruelness was never a 'big hit'. Sure the industrial watermarks were left behind for more "song" or "melodic" material but they grew into each record with their own style. "That Total Age" is still a powerful stance in electronic music. It remains as the medal for which most hard ebm acts wish they could ever earn for themselves.

This LP is FANTASTIC! True powerful and adrenalinic EBM! Nitzer Ebb were among the best electronics outfits of the late 1980s, and "That Total Age" is sure their masterpiece. This is angry and epic electronic music played with raw punk attitude (in a word, EBM). VNV Nation? Hocico? Yeah, yeah, of course...
