What madness, who in their right mind would splurge on a Crosley mini turntable just to spin these trendy 3-inch records that likely sound atrocious? You don't get the great B-side of this single, the rare "Love Street" either.- In my book “The Doors - Waiting for the sun”, The Door’s dichotomous album of their pre- and post- success discography is also their best. And although 7” records are not considered audiophile and I am not a big fun of 7” myself (especially second-hand ones) I have to admit that there is a certain amount of beauty in playing a brand new 7” 45rpm record. In terms of sound I haven’t A/B it with the digital version and good luck finding an original but this is a fine pressing no issues with surface noise or anything. I am now tempted to get the whole 7” Doors re-issue series.
- Edited 12 years agoThere was some unhappiness with this Kinks' inspired song from Doors' fans. The band had obviously gone commercial. But then, that was a long time ago. Lyrically, the song is Morrison's, and it doesn't hurt a record company to have a hit. I'm still obviously aware of the song's commercial appeal, but it sounds fine to me. If Jim had just gone along with the nice little record people, he might be alive today doing Time/Life "Best of the Sixties" CD infomercials. Maybe it's a good thing he's dead.
"Love Street" is a meandering little quaalude of a song. It goes nowhere, and is one of the weaker cuts from an otherwise fine album ("Waiting for the Sun").
