- Edited 2 months agoSounds super clear, crisp and dynamic.
I do not have an original/vintage copy to compare this reissue with. I am by no means an analog purist but the extra clean sound sometimes give off the “digital stamp” if that matters to anyone.
The only thing lacking (or perhaps was never there in the original recording) is a punchy low end. However, relative to HiFi streaming services, bass is more present.
Really happy to add this to my collection. - A hot stamper of there ever was one! This pressing smokes with a wide open soundstage and transparency you only read about. AAA goodness is right here
- Wonderful reissue of a classic. I also have a 1972 first pressing. I strain to hear any difference in fidelity between that copy and this Gloversville reissue from 1980.
- I have recent nostalgia for this album as I only just discovered SD in the past 5 years. It was during a family vacation to Orange County during a cruise down Pacific Coast Highway. And man I fell hard for the mambo-rock opener.
I listened to more. Learned more about them and their commitment to making the best sounding music possible. Their perfectionism. That’s not lost on me. Some of my favorite bands have that same problem. I respect it.
Fast forward to 2022 when Analogue Productions announced they were reissuing all of their albums. I preordered them all. Haven’t been disappointed yet. We’re lucky to have Chad get his hands on all these amazing catalogs. They give them the treatment they deserve.
I won’t bother reviewing the copy itself. Everything everyone had said about it is true. - I have recent nostalgia for this album as I only just discovered SD in the past 5 years. These tan labels sound amazing. Need to compare it with my original pressing but imagine this isn't far off. The intro to reelin' in the years isn't different on this one as far as i can tell.- Here to echo what basically everyone else has said: absolutely flawless. Pristine sound, such revealing detail and clarity. Instrumental separation is second to none -- I have the first 3 SD albums on UHQR and this has to be the best sounding one so far. Incredible, pick it up while you can.
