      I've never officially considered myself a fan of Ralph Towner, however, every time I buy one of his records I am truly astounded at his inventiveness and musicality. This is a 1979 solo concert on ECM label, Ralph playing 12-string and nylon. It is easy to imagine oneself sitting in the audience, hearing this genius for the first time.

      Highlights include "Train Of Thought", "Ralph's Piano Waltz", and "Nardis". This performance exudes great energy and confidence. Not one to play it safe, Ralph steps out here and takes a few chances, with great results. Check out "Timeless" and "Nardis" for some really adventurous harmonic exploration. Technically, his playing is impeccable.

      The production is superb. Ralph's guitars sound huge and detailed. I particularly love the percussive right hand of his nylon string classical guitar. This is one of those quiet concerts where you can hear every cough and murmur by the audience, but it is not distracting.

      Pressing is excellent.
