If you're looking to start in on Nobukazu's work (I've owned about 5 of them from the early 00s) and this and Child's View are the two I'd begin with. This one, being less expensive is no less good, in fact it may be his best work. These two releases contain his most short and catchy melodies in many different soundscapes, which are great fun to listen to. Other releases, watch for track timing, can be long explorations into one soundscape. These soundscapes are strange, alien, but contain tones or recognizable instruments as well. The feeling is like taking a light, happy trip through alien soundscape, sometimes bumping into singing robots or robots playing woodwinds. He avoids prolonged avenues into dark or cloudy emotions, but isn't adverse to neutral ones.
Another thing to note is that the fidelity of his recordings is astoundingly good and can really show off what your system is capable of. The pressings on Thrill Jockey are very fine for making the point.
No electronica collection is complete without some of his works in it. Pick up these records before he is rediscovered 20 years from now as under-rated genius.- Edited 17 years ago

I love love love this album! Nobukazu is the man! This is spring music to me- it reminds me of the days where it finally gets warmer and you can open all your windows and let the breeze in. Much of it is beautiful, even the noisier bits- to me, anyway. Nobu at his best!
