The Dave Brubeck Quartet – Angel Eyes

The quality of the pressing is excellent; vinyl is dead-quiet, (almost) perfectly flat, presenting the music in a beautiful manner.

Does anyone know the name of the model on this album cover?

comes in spineless sleeve, typical for Dutch C Columbia and Prestige releases in the early to mid sixties.

Very fine sounding quartet performance, perhaps not as groundbreaking as "Time Out", but very pleasing in the usual Brubeck/Desmond/Morello formula.

"Violets for Your Furs": the rubato piano intro and block chording on the head is beautiful. Just when you think it cannot improve, Desmond drops in to interpret the melody a second time. Brilliant. This band swings hard.

Be sure to stick around for the very last track, "The Night We Called it a Day". It is stunningly beautiful, as ballads go.

Recording is outstanding, and the pressing is wonderful. Recommended.

This is a first class recording. Joyful jazz produced by a terrific quartet!

Sounds great and a typical quartet release with smooth playing by Dave and Paul. Great cover too...the model Terry Reno is on a few Dave's albums. I read story that she was never paid for the cover, she was a famous model during the 60's and certainly has eye poppin talent on this cover. But the music is what makes ya pull this one out over and over again!
