Only thing disappointing is that this isn’t a gatefold. The sleeve is just basic and not that glossy premium that I’ve used to from AP. Anyways, the sound is fantastic, amazing press! And that’s the only thing that really matters. Highly recommended!

I recently stumbled upon and purchased at a garage-type sale the 1987 EMI UK boxed set of 20 Nat King Cole albums, The Capitol Years. In packaging, it is an identical twin to the 1985 EMI UK box of 20 Frank Sinatra albums, under the same name. Both sets were produced by Alan Dell and were digitally remastered.

My copies of the UK NKC LPs are mint, unplayed, and they sound great. How would you say the Kevin Gray/Steve Hoffman AP remasters compare with this box set? Granted, a 45rpm cutting should automatically provide more detail, transparency than a 33 1/3 cutting. But how about differences in EQ? In mix eg reverb vs. flat; in widened or narrowed soundstage?
I paid $80 for the box, that’s a mere $4 per minty LP, and I’m sure if I had bothered to haggle with the peddler, he would’ve let it go for even less. $80 is probably a rock bottom price for a SH/KG 2x45rpm AP reissue in 2022. Is the latter 20 times “better” sounding than the Alan Dell record?

This is one of the truly great Analogue Productions pressings. Dead quiet wax, warm audio, balanced and surreal spacing. best sound on vinyl. Natural. Silent/no cracks. Vinyl record as it should and need to be. Sound, voice so perfectly match to listen this records on a turntable. This should be go to record to fall in love (again) in vinyl records.- I don't usually comment, but wow. This is one of the best voice recordings I ever heard. The production is amazing.
