I love this record. Solid all round techno. All 4 songs punch, but B2 just takes off and hits all the right spots. It’s so effective at it’s to-the-point-minimalism. That synth… Classic, still rocks.referencing C-Theories (12", 33 ⅓ RPM) CODE RED 04
If you're familiar with either one of the two 12" Cari released on Drumcode, "Rahangel Me'" [DC04 ] and "Vansterprassel Me'" [DRUMCODE 10], then you will find yourself at home with "C Theories". Ululating synth sweeps complement high pitched effects, wavering passages punctuated by crispy beats with a tribal trait. The overall effect is trilling, with melodic ornaments rapidly going through alternations between principal notes and the notes a whole tone or semitone above them.
In the label's true style, the release is relatively mellow, although don't expect the lush chords and Detroit pads found on the Beyer, Conceiled Project releases. Despite the Code Red aesthetic, Lekebusch still heavily relies on his intricate sound textures and implementing musical arrangements which can equally please DJs looking for some club material and living room heads seeking out that new gem.
I wouldn't say it is a milestone, at least not to the extent of the aforementioned stuff he did for Drumcode, but given the slightly more accessible nature of "C Theories", I'd say giving this a shot first wouldn't really hurt.
Check out the A2 tune for some totally tripped out reverberating tribal madness, effective use of demented synths and creating spherical soundscapes through applications of multiple, upon first listen even incompatible, effcts and tricks.
B1 is the most true to form, linear techno cut of the four. Repetitve, loopy synthetical patterns bounce from left to right and back over a conventional, tight 4x4 groove. Great stuff!
