Content wise this is definitely my favourite Patricia Barber album but I have expected more from this MoFi release. As some others already said you have to crank up the volume substantially to get near normal sound pressure levels. Clicks and pops are not seldom and it sounds - at least for me - not really dynamically, somewhat compressed. This becomes really apparent when you directly compare it to the CD version. It's like day and night and this time in a positive way for the CD. Especially if you listen to the guitar on track Orpheus/Sonnet the MoFi sounds like the guitar is 100m away - very strange. I will keep the record as there is currently no other vinyl release available but I'm really hoping that Premonition or Impex is launching a vinyl version of this wonderful music.referencing Mythologies (2×LP, Album, Limited Edition, Numbered, Reissue, Special Edition, Stereo, 180g) MFSL 2-318
I do have copy 511 and I can report that is sounds TERRRRIFFFIC! (Sumiko Starling cart on Bergmann Sindre table) Flat, yes, that is the vinyl, as a pancake. Level is quite OK, maybe a tiny bit lower than usual. That should not be an issue when played on a quality set. Compressed sound? Not at all. full, rich as you would expect from (the old) mofi titles. Compared to the cd version, this vinyl album stands out. So? For me this is a winner. :-)referencing Mythologies (2×LP, Album, Limited Edition, Numbered, Reissue, Special Edition, Stereo, 180g) MFSL 2-318
Can someone please tell me that this Mobile Fidelity pressing is terrible?
