- This is a surprisingly great album. Musically, I prefer it to the first album which is quite organ forward but growing on me.
My copy of WOTD is physically flat and clean. It sounds full, rich and nuanced. No complaints whatsoever. And I was shocked to find one just chilling in a bin in the States. referencing Waiters On The Dance (LP, Album) RAB 2
greatest, but I dont get why so expensive rather I hope they come to termsreferencing Waiters On The Dance (LP, Album) RAB 2
I don't get the most expensive list. Discogs runs two different lists, one with prices in the thousands and then there's this list which is inaccurate.- Edited one year agoDoesn't have a look of an Japanese release, it looks like regular UK pressing being exported to Japan where they've added obi for distribution in Japan.

If you enjoyed Julian's Treatement's A Time Before This, it's a no-brainer that you need Julian Jay Savarin's only solo album, Waiters on the Dance. It's not every day you come across an author who also explored music (other than Michael Moorcock who periodically associated himself with Hawkwind), Julian Jay Savarin being another example, only difference is Julian was also a musician, fully capable of playing organ (and also, on this album, Mellotron). Although the lineup has totally changed, therefore dropping the Julian's Treatment moniker, to be honest, this may as well be another Julian's Treatment album, as it's very similar in sound and spirit. Jo Meek replaced Cathy Pruden. Jo was the sister of Anna Meek, of Catapilla, and in fact Jo was the original vocalist for Catapilla, but she left (to sing for Julian Jay Savarin) before they got to record, to be replaced by Anna. Also the drummer is Roger Odell, who I know from CMU (who also featured his wife Larraine Odell on vocals) and Shakatak. Jo's vocals aren't too terribly different from her predecessor Cathy Pruden. Anyways, the music seems to have a bit more edge than on A TIme Before This, a bit less of that "groovy '60s" feel to it, showing more maturity, with some really nice use of Mellotron on top of Julian's typical cosmic organ playing. What a wonderful cover to go with it, it screams "rare and obscure collector's item", and to be honest, the original LP on the Birth label is very hard to find (in fact harder to come by than the Julian's Treatment album). Thankfully this album has been reissue sparing you the big money an original goes for. What else can I say, this really comes highly recommended!
There also seems to be a bit of confusion when this album was released. I keep seeing both 1971 and 1973. It still has too much of that trippy hippie feel going on to date from 1973. There was also an Australian (Birth with RCA distribution) pressing that clearly bears a 1973 copyright on the label but it's safe to say it was first released in the UK in '71 although the label on that version sported no copyright.
