This long awaited 2nd full length from Aghast View finally saw the light of day in 1997. After a multitude of obstacles, Carcinopest was released on a brand new Canadian label Gashed. Even though this CD was recorded back in 1996, the music still sounds as fresh and innovative as anything else out there. Carcinopest begins with Pay Off, a angry EBM piece with growling vocals, dominating rhythms, catastrophic samples, and rock-hard beats. Fade Away uses the same approach, but adds in the bonus element of metallic guitar riffs akin to KMFDM tracks, and choppy break-beats. The gem of Carcinopset is Torrent Haze; a roughed up EBM piece splattered with interesting breaks, catchy samples, and violent beats. Per/Version is another turbulent electro piece in which Aghast View implements biting break-beats and pounding rhythms. With Down Race Aghast View take on a more disjointed approach to programming with fluctuating rhythm speeds and shouted vocals. Truthlike is a less abrasive track with subtler vocals, lighter sequences and uniform beats. Lastly, Vaporize is a track that gradually builds itself upon a foundation of spastic beats, meaty rhythms, and angry vocals. It's easy to hear the influences that other bands (Front Line Assembly, Swamp Terrorists, KMFDM, Wumpscut) have had upon Aghast View and with Carcinopest they have managed to meld all of these separate sounds together into a musical approach that they can call their own.

Excellent old school EBM in the vein of FLA's cult classic, "Tactical Neutal Implant". Hostile, hard and bitter.
