Uberzone's debut, FAITH IN THE FUTURE, hits that special place between futuristic breaks and retro electro, mixing DJ cutting and rumbling bass in "Beat Bionic," while "Science Fiction" plays with the some reggae toasting in a spare rhythmic setting. There are hints of dub techno in "Black Widow," as well, though "Bounce" is almost pure breaks, and he engages with Lida Husik's vocals in the more ethereal "Dreamtime." He also plays with the deep tones of "Frequency," letting them throb and accrete, accompanied by Page Hamilton's earnest vocals, but it's the thoughtfulness and melody of the title track that speaks louder. Afrika Bambaataa and Soulsonic Force's voices gets modulated with the jump-up energy of "2 Kool 4 Skool" wihle the Asian vocals on "Little Dragon" linger in a more spare, but spacious background. And "Botz (Synthetik)," reprises their early work, which just goes to show how the old can always sound new.
