My first album! I had no idea what I was purchasing, I just wanted the rave sound, hardcore records. It sounded amazing after listening to crackling pirate radio stations and recording DJ sessions on cassette's. The rave sound especially from Altern 8 got me hooked so did the vibe.
I had not even heard of Reinforced records, I did not even listen to the vinyl! I asked the guy in Virgin records in Piccadilly square if they sold hardcore and he pointed me in the direction of what they had. I liked the cover so I bought it! I got home and played it on my mums realistic turntable and hifi, and bugged out. The tracks are so raw and for tunes made in 91 put together really well reinforced were ahead their time. Mr Kirks Nightmare was probably the biggest track at the time in 91 I think. I was kid so it got me started.

For me there is one track on here that dominates though, its simple and a now typical Reinforced surprise. Knowing Marc I know he likes to drop in surprises .. and 4 Hero by 4 Hero was so far ahead its time back then its just pure music for the mind.. even now when I put it on.

I never asked Marc why the album was called In Rough Territory. It is a must own for all Hardcore, Darkcore, Hardcore Jungle, Drum n Bass heads a little piece of something special. A little piece of how it all began.

0May The Wicked Perish In The Fire Of Hell! Man I totally forgot about this track until I bought this album off a market stall the other week (and very cheap too / nr mint condition). Wicked slab of breakbeat! One of the many starts into the territory called the Jungle Techno sound!

A good debut LP from the then-foursome (paired down to the classic two by the next album). Might have too much of a "rave/happy hardcore" sound for fans of their later work, though.
