- To RSPievaitis: for years I was like you, completely disillusioned with modern music.what I perceived was years of a combination of damage caused by tv'talent' shows/ searches and the popularity of free music on the web made me believe there was NO good current music.then early last year I joined bandcamp.you create a short profile including your musical likes and the music finds you.a phantasmagoria of talent lands in you message box daily! I have discovered so much quality music from all over the globe.through bandcamp I discovered Rose Kemp which brought me to hunting down her work on discogs.so it goes.come full circle.
- Rose,
Hi remember me ? The Van der Graaf man ! I told you to listen Ship of Fools on Vital the wonderful Van der Graaf at the Marquee with a crowd of ten lol. I still own all your albums and now my 18 year old daughter who plays guitar and writes songs (she was only 6 when you released this one )has been inspired by this album, she loves your music.
This blood red vinyl is fabulous on two fronts. Firstly it looks amazing and secondly, it sounds amazing too.
I really miss this lovely young lady, why she just vanished whilst on the cusp of success only she can tell. But let me publicly state that I wish she would return and show the current wasters how it's really meant to be. This music is alive, it's got guts and passion. I cannot listen to the homogenous crap that is called music today.
In fact since I last emailed Rose back in the late 00s I have hardly bought any newly recorded albums at all. Actually I can still remember and I've only bought 7. A few Steven Wilson albums plus Elbow, Kate Rusby, Sanguine Him and The Enid , yep that's it.
The rest of my 500+/- purchases have been decent vinyl replacement of cds for example Moondance by Van the Man, Sheet Music by 10cc, Sticky Fingers on half speed by The Stones and those wonderful 200 gram slabs of complete nourishment by XTC . You get my drift I guess.
Real proper music like this album by the truly divine and very talented Ms.Rose Kemp. I cannot recommend it highly enough. Folks go and seek it out in any format and buy it and then sit down in comfortable chair, drop the stylus (preferably) light one up and listen. Oh and a good chilled Guinness might help too.I
Ok you get my place of origin.
PS the wearing of a face covering is completely optional.Q?
