referencing Orange Compilation (CD, Compilation) TIP CD 02
Strangely enough this original version of the orange compilation is still available from trance-shop. Priced at 58 euro (!) trance-shop isn't interested in giving it away, though, so if you want to buy this 1995 release you want some reassurance it's worth the dough.
Well, if you're into 1995-98 Psytrance this compilation is it for you. Orange Compilation has all the acts associated with this mid 90's psychedelia sound, Doof, Green Nuns of the Revolution, Astral Projection, Total Eclipse, Halllucinogen and more. Yeah, baby, all these acts on one cd as they entered their career!
Still, the ones on this album that does it for me are tracks by lesser known acts such as track 10 Thru by Voodoof. Voodoof is Doof's Nick Barber and Paul Jackson and this track their only work together. How sad as this is one monster of a track! Lazy as hell this track starts slowly, builds with the bass and a great high pitch theme, and comes on so smoothly you don't even notice until 4:02 that this on surface not very noticeable track has had you lured. At this point craziness kicks in! If there is any such thing as an all time top ten this'd be on mine!
Another highlight is track 5 Intellect by Psychaos. The lead synth on this track is so mean it's indescribable. And proofs to me why I got onto Psytrance back in the days ...;o)
Well, not all the tracks does it for me. It really is the highlights that stand out the rest being more average psy. Mostly interesting, though.
If money is not an issue go on and get this comp. You get one of the first TIP releases and some great tracks that stand the test of time. On the downside, not all the tracks are equally delivering and at the price you will probably have to pay for this one you should be warned that some tracks demand more patient listening. Still, in my book, track 10 alone makes this album worth every penny.
Highlights: 5 (!!), 7, 10 (!!!!)
