Taking a much deserved rest from releasing his best album in years in "Joy", "Teddy Pendergrass" reappeared to the music world, and released "Truly Blessed"....
Now, in opinion, this is not a strong as "Joy", but there are some very nice moments...
The first song, "She Knocks Me Off My Feet", has a nice bouncy Beat to it....I think the problem I have with this one is the Synthesizers...For me, it takes away from what is a pretty good song...
Now, "It Should've Been You" (the Ultimate Crown Jewel), was much better!!!!! But then again, this nice joint falls right in line with what has become the "Teddy Smoothness"!!!!
"Don't You Ever Stop", again is pretty good, but the Synthesizers take away from what would have been a Crown Jewel....The Melody was on point, but again, the Synthesizers were hard for me to ignore...
Now, "It's Over" (the Ultimate, Ultimate, Ultimate Crown Jewel), is the BOMB!!!! This kinda reminds me of "Let me Love You", from his "TP" album....This Moody joint takes you to several Musical places, but continues to be laced in that "Teddy Smoothness"!!!!
"Glad To Be Alive" (Co-Produced by "Narada Michael Walden"), is great in concept, with a great message...The problem is the Melody....It is WAY TO Hyped -Upped for me, even though most songs were like that at this time (because everyone was trying to be a part of the "New Jack Swing Movement")....
"Teddy's" version of "How Can You Mend A Broken Heart" is pretty good, but to me it's missing something...I think my problem is, that no one besides "The Bee Gees" and "Al Green" could master that Classic.....
"I Find Everything In You" (with some help from "Chuckii Booker") is a very good fast joint...Again though the "Hyped -Uppness" keeps it from being a Crown Jewel...
"Spend The Night" (the 3rd Crown Jewel), calms things down a bit, having that "Teddy Smoothness going on....
The 4th Crown Jewel, "With You", is another "Teddy Smoothness joint (Yes, again, it became a thing)...I want to believe that the Female Vocals were done by "Minnie Curry" (even though I can't prove it)....
"We Can't Keep Going On (Like This)", again has a great great message and Melody, but the Synthesizers kill it again!!!!! The "Title Track" is cool in how "Teddy" was expressing himself, just not feeling the Melody....
The verdict, the fast songs tries to overweigh the outstanding Slow Jams....The good thing was, that despite some of its flaws, "Teddy" was very confident in what he was producing at this time (and he should be)...So even though it sounds uneven to me, I am sure that most of you would enjoy this one!!!!!!! referencing Truly Blessed (CD, Album) 60891 2

I am very proud to have Engineered/Mixed much of this LP with Teddy Pendergrass and Crew in 1991. Very sad to see the Studio Credits not listed or [uncredited].
