I can fully understand why this one was met with poor reviews, even though it is not particularly bad. The problem is that this compilation uses a style which has been done to death. That is, a combination of house and dubstep, or techno and dubstep, with a couple of classics thrown in. Scuba did it. Kode9 did it. Photek did it. And Gold Panda did it. And all four did it on a DJ Kicks CD.
I've warmed up to it on repeated listens. It's got that Gold Panda flavor that you see in his productions - just really upbeat electro-esque beats, with a melancholic/nostalgic vibe. While it's not a groundbreaking mix , I'd say it still warrants a purchase because it's a strong compilation of music.
