- Great compilation and worth every penny, but before you pay a wild rate for a used copy, it looks like Mute still has some available for $33.98 as of today... https://store.mute.com/browse/fad-gadget/products/fad-gadget-best-of-fad-gadget-silver-2lp

CD2-11 Mkultra - Immobilise (12'' A-Side) - I have a question regarding the end of track D1 (Love Parasite). The track has a sudden cold end. Is this correct or do we have a cutting mistake here? I have the feeling something is missing at the end, but I do not have another album to compare. Thanks for help.
- The only remark would be that while most of the playlist on this 2xLP consists of proper a- and b-sides, the inclusion of "Luxury" instead of "Sleep (Electro Induced Original)" is a bit baffling, to say the least... And officially not even a "Fad Gadget" song as such. Well, whatever the reason... it's still a big A+.
- Edited 4 years agoIt’s about time Fad Gadget got a damn reissue. While I would have preferred reissues of the individual albums (I missed out on the 40th anniversary repress of fireside favourites) this is a nice collection with some great tracks. Sounds great and is a quality pressing. The low end is nice and buttery while the vocals and lead electronics just cut through the with amazing tone. This record really sounds good. Recommend picking one up.
- Wonderful repress of an artist who was well ahead of his time and an absolute quality release that bodes well for the forthcoming Goldfrapp re-issues. Just a thousand copies of this Fad compilation pressed so grab one whilst you can.
- Looks pretty good in silver and an awfully good sound as well. Worth the price, even though it's pretty expensive.
- Sadly this European/Mute-Labels' edition is one in a row of earlier 21st century editions suffering due to loudness war. Some songs are audibly compressed and/or distorted in places. Basically "The Best of Fad Gadget" is an updated version of "The Fad Gadget Singles" from 1986 (which I'd recommend more) - albeit here respectively documenting all the accompanying b-sides, along with the 12" mixes and a few 2001 remix cuts (plus, bizarrely, adding a Frank Tovey-penned "Luxury" and Mkultra's "Immobilise"), it's a bit of a (calculated) mess that was corrected with the more properly extensive "Fad Gadget by Frank Tovey" box set.
