The compositions compiled for this EP were conceived as musical footnotes to some of the themes started earlier on the album "Brilliant Trees", and were developed as a collaborative group effort for which i am very much indebted to all who took part. D.S.

- I like all these guys, but this never really worked for me, too nice or something, until I played the B side at 33 rather than 45, and suddenly it really opened up some frequencies, and some of the plastic sounding synthesizer sounds got deep and richer. That's just my take, but I'm happy I found that trick and now enjoy at least half of this.
- I have this exact copy. The tracklisting is the same, but if you listen to the music, it's actually different tracks. Side A: 'Ancient Evening', that flows into 'Incantation'. Then 'Awakening' follows on the same side. Side B is actually the track 'Preparations For A Journey'! Is this the same on every copy (and nobody seemed to have noticed) or is mine special?
- I always wondered why Percy Jones' name was left off the front of this. Seems like a crime to me. He's as much a part of this as anyone else.
- Note that the track times and titles are misleading here compared to Alchemy - An Index of Possibilities. All three parts of Shaman make up the entire A side of this release, while side B is actually Preparations for a Journey (as titled on Alchemy). The music is entirely identical, fadeouts and all; for some reason, the artwork doesn't accurately reflect the music as pressed.
