When first getting this album i really wanted to love the hell out of it. 'You Can Do' literally sold me at first listen, and first number 'Taste Not Waste' was nothing short of a minimal tech-house epic hyping up for what was going to happen next. Best bass ever to it too. Even the silly interludes in between were all about samples chopped in funny manners so it was all i was looking for. But at halfway through 'Sunbeams and the Rain' i started noticing it all was, say, too simple production wise: its breakbeat kept on going with no variation during its whole 8 minutes run and two linear pad chords were lying down the melody. It's a classic but you can point out just how flat it is.
Listening to the whole thing again now, i can make myself an idea of why the artist chose to put the cutest track in the album only immediately after the nastiest, namely 'Resisting Curare', which opens with a beatless section of sonic frequencies destined to burst either your ears or your speakers (along with cheesy flute synths) until one of the quirkiest chipmunk funk samples i can think of pops in and the whole thing becomes madness. It's fast, too, its like daring you to keep up or get out.
There's an obvious style going on with these productions, despite the shortcomings in production values. It's not like Kremeier just went for a simple Billy Jean loop without trying to make a point: this, one of the most well known pop tunes of our era, is now my shit and i'll just put silly synths on top of it (Is it an homage? Is it not?) The broken english titles don't make much sense, i never understood what was going on in the cover picture, this album is an oddity and i love it. It has just enough shades of weirdness to it to offer both an interesting listening experience and grooves that are hard to resist moving yourself to. Haven't listened to anything more recent of his, but by reading some user reviews for his latest albums (and the very discogs bio for the artist) im assuming the dude lost the edge to his stuff this one had.

Edit: got 'Island Time' and loved it. Not as batshit crazy as this one, still!

Sunbeams And The Rain is timeless. A stunning intersection of atmospheric breaks and techy drive.

B2 Overland turns the beat and bassline from Michael Jackson's classic 'Billie Jean' into a minimal tech masterpiece with a playful melody and some seriously dope sounds.

From the first track, which is about ten minutes of house beats and beautiful minimalist instrumentation, the album builds this aural world of impeccably crafted drum beats and orchestrations in which your mind can float and wander into distant, faraway lands with a golden sun that never lets you get cold. If you were to categorize it, it's progressive house at its finest with a little Pole and Baby Mammoth mixed in. But it's unfair to compare. It's definitely worth every penny of your import euro.
