This moody and vulnerable record came out amongst piles of late 80s alternative college-rock albums and I'm sure all the Pere Ubu fans were very much disappointed. This is one of the most overlooked high-water marks of 80s recordings. Thomas' poetry is so beautiful and poignant. And the laid back arrangements and performance take the arty elements of Pere Ubu, wrench them from their rock ambitions and work them into a kind of Folk Music for the avant-garde listener.
