Thompson Twins – Set

I am really surprised that nobody has commented on this RSD 2 disc set yet. I bought this a couple of weeks ago second hand for just £14.99 and here are my opinions on this set. First there is a half second of silence which comes in mid note at the end of Tok Tok and beginning of Good Gosh. This plays continuously without pause on my Edsel Cd edition. (I don't have a vinyl copy from the time of the albums first release). The second point is, on my copy, there is a flaw at the edge of the second disc, a small dip in the vinyl which you can see and feel. Unfortunately this means that for the first 25 seconds of Bouncing you can here a boom of low bass coming through very loud on every turn of the disc. The final point is the low level of the audio. Most modern reissues I have bought are like this and it's annoying. When you have to turn the volume up more you can here the noise of the vinyl more. The overall sound quality is good but not great. I just listened to the 7" and 12" versions of Runaway/Bouncing and the sound quality on both, even the 7" is way better. They are more dynamic, clearer, louder and consequently no background vinyl noise. Even though I got this 2 disc set cheap, I am very disappointed with it.
