Notes
Harp virtuoso Steve Baker and masterpicker Dick Bird have played together since the early 1970s, at first as a duo, then with the crazed jugband "Have Mercy“ and later with the rock band "Tough Enough“. From the mid 90s onwards until her untimely death in 2005, they performed with the late Angela Altieri as "The Mudsliders“. After a mere 35 years they have finally managed to get around to making a duo CD. The title pays homage to the kazoo, an instrument which is possibly hated even more than the harmonica (if this is even conceivable!).
"King Kazoo" features acoustic instruments almost exclusively and showcases Dick and Steve's energetic and grooving approach to a wide range of material in the country blues and jugband vein, underlining both their instrumental and vocal abillities as well as Dick's amazing talents on ... well yes, the kazoo. It was recorded and mixed by Dirk Hornemann in Hamburg's v76 studio and includes many new original compositions. The CD features guest appearances by Martin Roettger on drums and washboard, Henry Heggen on jug and Martin Wichmann on upright bass
