Notes

FRANKIE LAINE'S GREATEST HITS" is a living expression of true talent.... This artist has captivated audiences for two generations. His style and unique presentation cannot be imitated. To date, Frankie Laine has had 14 records which have topped the million sales mark.

It was some 25 years ago that Frankie catapulted to international recognition with his recording of "That's My Desire". Since then he has consistently come up with winners: many considered classics. He is recognized as one of the all-time greats among recording artists.

A man's soul changes as he finds new meaning in life-what he thinks, what he feels And so, in this album Frankie sings 'em as he feels 'em. He was a soul singer before they called it soul, and was nicknamed "Mr. Rhythm", as in rhythm and blues. You'll be thrilled by his romantic ballads such as "A Sunday Kind of Love" moved by his stirring "Mule Train", and you'll swing with "On The Sunny Side of The Street" Frankie's rare talent fuses and blends many different musical themes and is being copied today. He is pop, rhythm & blues, country, but most of all-Soul; he spans the musical generations. Frankie is thrilling audiences today with his unique style and sound just as he did in the late 40's and 50's.

He bends, extends and reshapes the written note to express his gut emotions. Frankie Laine did a lot of living before he became a "name", and has done a lot of living since, In this album it's all there to hear and experience-a voice soulfully expressing his encounters with the ups and downs of life.

Frankie's not sure how his unique singing style developed. It is not a style he consciously pursued, rather one that evolved. He suspects it resulted from a combination of many things: his early training as an altar boy in Chicago's Immaculate Conception Church; his clarinet lessons from the late Frank Teschmaker (who inspired many greats including Benny Goodman); his fascination with the trumpeting style of Louis Armstrong: and his reverence for the great singers and stylists-Bing Crosby, Cab Calloway, Nat Cole and above all Billie Holiday. Frankie says "There's a little bit of each in me".

That Frankie Laine has remained at the top through the years in the highly competitive business of singing is attributable to his broad appeal and his willingness to experiment and change.

So listen to the best music of this remarkable artist. Enjoy one of America's great talents.

"Ladies and Gentlemen-"Mr. Frankie Laine".
