- So I think the notes are mistaken or at least something changed. My hype sticker does not mention a "colored vinyl", it says "On 180-Gram Vinyl" only.
- I have the original clear and gold album and it sounds pretty bad with a basic cleaning. This black vinyl one sounded dirty until I gave it a vacuum cleaning and a glue-cleaning (titebond II) and now it's sounding amazing! I may glue-clean it again. I think they got lazy with the releasing agent when it was pressed. I pre-ordered the clear/olive green one from Rough Trade. RT presses a nice album. This deserves to be a double album though. I'm sure Mobile Fidelity will never issue it - what a shame.
- I think they must have fixed some production issues. Just got my copy from her site today: package was fine (agree the cardboard is a little thin but I’ve seen worse packaging for more money), and the disc itself sounds great; no scuffs, warping, or noise issues (I clean my new discs thoroughly before playing, too). The sticker didn’t advertise colored vinyl, only name of the record/180g vinyl/poster inside.
Overall very pleased with the presentation and ofc it’s a great record. - can someone tell me if the sleeve on this black pressing is glossy or if it's the same matte kind of recycled cardboard?
- Edited 3 years agoThe packaging for this record is simply appalling - the sleeve wasn't even glued together at the bottom edge so it's pretty painful to put the record in and out, especially given that it's 180g. The cardboard is pretty thin as well and they didn't bother removing or changing the misleading hype sticker about the record being colored. This album deserved a much better packaging in a thick, glossy gatefold sleeve to house both the record and the poster separately
- The black vinyl version I got on Amazon sounds pretty decent. There is a quiet whoosh noise on my copy that you can hear when played loud, mostly between the tracks. Basically an issue with dynamic range, the 46 minute album packed into a single disc. Considering that factor, I am quite impressed with the sound quality, but not as mind blowing as something like Jessie Ware - What's your pleasure pressing (53 mins into a single disc and fantastic sound).
