Reviews
- I've held off on commenting on this album, mainly because I lose all my critical senses when listening to it. Yes, it is previously released goods; yes, it is now 17 years old; yes, I adore both sets of artists. But what great music! It is no casual observation - nor damning with faint praise - to state that B12 is overshadowed by Stasis' work here: "Funky Purple Hotpants" and "Questions for Vanmanan" are classics, but "I Think It's in Here" deserves to be, as it steadily builds steam with a repeating funky melody and strange swooping noises. "VCF" brings the soaring synths and rythmic racket and really shows itself to be the gem of the 2nd disc. Not at all melancholy (hear the staggered percussion toward the end?) but uplifting, sure to get your head to rise and force a smile.
B12 by no means turn in poor work, however. "Outerim" and "Interim" are among the strongest tracks they ever recorded, only they are overshadowed by Stasis' truly memorable outing.
