- Edited 7 months agoI'm a fan of Nervasystem's work because he is one of the Goa musicians who really gets that melody is rhythm and vice versa, or to put it slightly differently, who creates melodic rhythms. Other noteworthy instances include Cosmosis, Fractal Glider, and Rastaliens, though there are many others; you might even say that melodic rhythm or rhythmic melodies are the core of the genre musically. Nervasystem specialises in a quite techno influenced Goa with a very metallic rhythm and percussion section. There's also a certain northern darkness in his work that owes a nod to industrial and metal. But he is also a very psychedelic musician and that works for me big time. This is a great ep, maybe Nervasystem's finest hour, with "Stardust" and its sample being particularly noteworthy. If your tastes run to the darker side of Goa, this is a stand out composition. It has a stomping beat and a wobbly bassline that is the basis of the piece, but it also features 303 and sharp percussion. A well composed track that builds in intensity. The production qualities and sound on this vinyl are superb with sharp treble sounds and deep bass with that delicious dark background. A favourite. ~*~
