Edited 6 months agoWispy, degraded pianos left adrift in fields of static, fuzz, and end-groove detritus, hits of half-glimpsed light darting about, the crack of twigs on glass...it's all but of a piece at this Picnic. This duo are in the thick(et) of things here, deconstructing melancholy via digital gimcrackery so all traces of analog involvement become moot, like the errorsmiths they are. Hauntology permeates the cracks between where Oval-esque chicanery does a Pole-dance on Raster night while some of the 12k posse look on in wonder. Cock your head whilst you listen to this engaging lot; your ears'll do the mimsy.
This damn record! Well it's just amazing. One of the best this year, easily.
