- Edited one year agoI hadn't listened to this in years. For some reason, I remembered it being terrible, but it's definitely not terrible. It is not a good pressing, it's a United pressing. Very slight warp on LP1, quiet cut, but some clicks and ticks. Now, to be fair, they will probably decrease with a good wet cleaning which I intend to do now. But it actually sounds OK. It is not their best, as they have cut and pressed some really nice vinyl, but it's not terrible. FWIW, I have no vocal distorting in Two Drops in the Ocean. I do have some inner groove distortion on Golden Sunlight.
- Edited one year agoSampled my copy and sounds pretty good, i noticed some inner groove distortion on Golden Sunlight, anyone else? I didnt hear any issue with Two Drops In The Ocean as another user mentioned but i havent directly compared yet.
EDIT, directly compared it and I can't hear any difference
https://www.mediafire.com/file/ng1pgy5ksndzpgj/Uplifter_Samples.zip/file - Pressing I have plays well. No skips or noise. Very quiet. Volume is slightly low and overall fairly flat. It's missing some of the low end punch the digital version has. My biggest gripe is that instead of pressing the record on all 4 sides it's only pressed on 3 of the 4 sides. Pretty much explains this pressing in general. Love this album and glad I own it but definitely not near the best 311 pressing I have.
- Edited 2 years agoHaving listened to the digital version of this album since its release I am very familiar with how the sound should sound. The digital version of this album is outstanding! I got a copy of Uplifter vinyl pre-owned. I am happy that I have this on vinyl, however, there are issues with the mastering. The most glaring issue is Nick's vocals on Two Drops In The Ocean (sad cause that's one of my most favorite 311 songs). It's sort of chipmunky. Maybe someone was too stoned when they were mastering the vinyl haha. Outside of the mastering issues, my copy is very clean. No pops whatsoever. I am happy to have found this.
- Edited 5 years agoOne of the worst pressings I own. First one I received was warped so bad it was unplayable. The replacement was also warped in the same area and fashion but not as bad as the first. this record is piss poor with quality control I'd avoid it at all cost, until they re-release it with a better pressing
