Hmmm… I just did an A/B of my clean Pitman OG (PAL-32280-2A STERLING) vs. this MoFI 1-Step. The 1-Step certainly had more openness, and the vinyl was quieter…but… on tracks like Kodachrome and Loves Me Like A Rock the OG had just as much punch and snap in the drums and that bass line at the end of Loves Me was just as tight and clear. Pauls voice was maybe a bit clearer on the 1-Step especially on tracks like Sunny Day, so with the separation and clear vocals it’s on the quieter tracks where this 1-Step outshines the OG. But… dang the OG really did more than hold its own. Love this album, and will enjoy the 1-Step, but the MoFi doesn’t just blow me away when compared to that early pressing. Rega P6, Hana SL MC….

The overall sound is nice, but this pressing is more noisy that I would like, especially in groove rumble during fades & intros.

I was a skeptic about MoFi Ultradisc, and have wanted to prove my scepticism for a year or two. But then one of my favourite albums came out on Ultradisc and I poneyed up a couple of hundred bucks. And boy was I proved wrong. This is by far the best sounding vinyl album I own (second is an original DMM Tracy Chapman, which proved that digital masters are not always wrong). This is truly eye opening in its detail. I personally find “was a sunny day” and bit twee these days, but all the other songs are standout. The best P Simon album this side of Graceland.

Gosh the lyrical waxing below should have warned me but tempted i dipped and..... this is abit overrated.

This is more Paul Ssssimon than Paul Simon. The separation, dynamics and the bass are great, all hallmarks of 45rpm and short sides. But its abit smiley face eq and the upper mids/treble dry out and even worse than this become somewhat sssibilant. With short sides and 45rpm this is not ideal. It could be a 10/10 but for me its a 7/10 at its best. Also dont bring a dry, analytical and basic stylus profile to this party or it will be a 5/10, the seven score is based on a non tippy toppy leaning fine line or better but even then the top end is not the nicest!

The pressing is not as good (again) as they claim in terms of silence. Bare in mind not many have a Degritter to hand and even with two runs through some noises remain. If Record Industry and Pallas can create quieter vinyl at a fraction of the price then RTI need to refocus on the compound and process. This is my experience and YMMV as ever in these terms but ive had enough bad 1steps and UHQRs to say its a one off issue.

Fantastic everything. Album, mastering, pressing and no seam splits either. Mofi have nailed this one completely…

Absolutely stunning pressing. The detail, soundstage and dynamics are all luscious and enveloping. This is officially now one of the best pressings I own.

Fantastic! The original pressings sound amazing. How can something so great sound even better? Well Mobile Fidelity did it again! Unreal how good this sounds.

I’ll just pile on to the other reviews here - an excellent one-step of an outstanding album. Crisp, detailed, transparent, sonically beautiful. Pressing quality also very good - disc 1 had a very slight warp, disc 2 looks very flat. Quiet vinyl.

No need to get long winded here, it’s a perfect one

I received my copy today in the UK. This is one of my all time favourite albums. I have owned several iterations and they have always sounded fresh and clean. This one simply blew me away in both clean sounding and an amazing soundstage. I almost had to stop breathing to enjoy the clarity. I have been a huge PS fan through to Rhythm of the Saints and already have the Still Crazy MOFI which is also fantastic. I have been on the email list since it was announced, paid a fortune in postage and it has been worth every penny.
