Text on back cover:
The cactus stands firm on the desert plain, juicing fluids from its desolate environment. Two solo MC's absorbed and deciphered culture from far rockaway to Bedford-Stuyvesant and, like the desert plant, stood alone. Predators never set it off, for all over sharp thorns protrude. Step... and your mack-daddy license is revoked. All shades knowledge cactus techniques, and jet from ignorance in the desert.

An excellent, and very full album with excellent wordplay, and some very dope beats, especially with the limited scope of tech of the '80s.

Absolutely essential for any connoisseur of the genre, though a bit dated to the ears of some, this is nevertheless a very dope album, and deserves nothing less than an 8.5/10. The lyrical content on The Cactus album is slick, and the beats are hella fresh to me, even for the somewhat gimmicky electronic sound present on some tracks and somewhat lengthy progression of tracks.
