On backside:
This is the first time Deep Purple's surviving BBC Session recordings have been rounded up. Cutting their first session even before their debut single Hush was released in the summer of '68, the band were frequent visitors to the BBC studios over the next two years. Several of the versions here have never been issued before, others were never recorded elsewhere. The material (which at times is from less than perfect surviving audio sources) ranges from energetic guitar heavy versions of early tracks through to a blistering set from the monumental In Rock album. This 2CD set includes a detailed booklet with full session details and history.

Recommendations
Reviews
- semi-interesting compilation.for the "MK I lovers" here you can find a lot of tracks "never previously bootlegged" ('cause never officially published on any BBC transcription services promo LP):Disc 1 tracks 1,2,3,4,5,10,13,14 & 15 were aired but never "transcripted" and here are from amateur radio recordings with a very low quality.Tracks 6,7,8,9,11,12 were aired a lot of times and recorded for BBC TS but 70's vinyl sounded much better in terms of quality.from this compilation are missing 2 songs: another version of "hey bop a re bop" and an edited version of "emmeretta" with DJ's intro/outro,both regularly transcripted in 1969/70.
The "shame" comes from CD2:all songs (previously transcripted in high quality and bootlegged trough the years) here sounds very bad(looks like if they were recorded from very damaged tapes) with "living wreck" prematurely faded out (10 seconds ca missing) and with"into the fire" hardly edited ,missing of ca 30 seconds!!!!!.
i think that this is only recommended for MK I die hard fans, but for MK II is possible find same tracks in excellent shape or in the regular various LP released in the 70's by the transcription services,or trough a mountain of unofficial releases compiled from BBC recordings.
