Recommendations
Reviews
- I'd wanted this album since my BIL taped it for me 40 years ago when I went off to uni with my little radio/casette player.
Sometimes reality is not as good as your memory but this is still as good as I remembered. - Of the first four String Driven Thing releases, this would be my favourite. There's so much great stuff happening here...catchy hooks/riffs, great harmonies, lyrics, etc...take "Night Club" for instance...song writing and composition at its finest in my opinion.
Not having pulled my LP from the shelves in a few years, I found myself playing side 1 twice...thoroughly enjoyed that after not hearing it in so long. I'm a big fan of late 60's-70's violin rock; The Flock, Doctors Of Madness, Cockney Rebel, It's A Beautiful Day, East Of Eden, Curved Air, High Tide, etc etc...
In my opinion, "The Machine That Cried" is right up there with some of the best those bands had to offer.
