- This rare High Society tune will be getting a re issue on Discrete Records later this year https://www.discogs.com/label/30941-Discrete-Recordings-2
Follow https://www.instagram.com/discrete_records/ for latest updates - Nice piano riff for sure.I agree 100% though with wezbash review. 126 quid at min for a copy. Bah!.Guess il just loop the piano riff on and on for 3 minutes and add a beat lol.
- Edited 5 years agoWere On Earth Did The Selling Price Come From Of £272 - £127 And Did Somebody Really Pay Nearly £300 For This Mediocre Middle Of The Road White Label Record, I Don't See The Attraction Of It Myself Even If It Was Played By The Big Name Dj's Back In The Day Like Sasha And Vertigo, I personally Think They Got Robbed Of Their Money As No Vinyl Record Is Worth The Price Of A Small Second Hand Car At Nearly £300, The Only Thing Good About It Is The Nice Piano Break Down The Rest Is Rubbish, When You Take In To Account Of Some Of The Real Classics From Around The Same Time In the Golden Years Of Rave In 92.
Who Hyped Up The Price On This One Its The Kind Of Record You Find In The Scavey Bucket's In Records Shops For 50p Or Charity Shops When Somebody Bitter Ex Girlfriend Has Chucked Out Their Ex's Old Skool Collection lol ! - Edited 5 years agojust got this is eclipse and high society & powerline-energy on same E.P for £40 which i though was quite reasonable
- There is a cheaper alternative to this if you just want the track and not the other mixes and that is to buy the Kosa EP for £20-£30. It also features the excellent and equally as pricey Eclipse - This is Eclipse so it really is a bargain if you are more interested in being able to play the tracks rather than having the original pressing.
- To be honest £100 for this is a bargain, when i first searched for this record it was on here at £350! that was back in the late nineties, i eventually found it for £25 so think i did well but the price will decrease as people regrettable move to cd's/mp3's and sell off their prized possessions. What can i tell you about high society - untitled....it has one if not the best piano riff of all time, rekindling memories of the Ark for many and indeed (for me anyway) Dj Vertigo in his prime (i first heard this on his better days july 92 mixtape which was widely circulated as Sasha, in fact i had this set in a sasha 4 tape pack from Flip records way back in 1996 and only found out some years later that the set was actually constructed by Steve). I love the bow-chic-kah sample used in the bassline, adding a nice funky element to an already groovy production, yes i agree there are better tracks out there for half the price but the obscurity surrounding this release to me adds to its rareness (contrary to belief there weren't many copies pressed and so im told little information about the release was given at the time). The fact that 451 people on here want it compared to the 67 who have it will unfortunately give a green light to sellers to ask for whatever price they want, whether they get that price is another thing! ;)
- Bought this when it very first came out ('92) and played it out often
but to be honest, I never even knew what it was called or who the artist
was until today, almost 25 years later. While this record is nothing amazing
it is however a catchy tune, and the piano line in it is hard to shake once
you've got it circling about in your head. Yet, It's hard for me to understand why this
is fetching such a premium $$$ here in the DMP. As catchy as it might be, I
can still think of a few things right off hand which are way better musically,
just as rare, and can be had for mere pennies when they come up for sale.
the whole thing just makes me wonder what the determining factors
are when something goes skyrocket like this one has in price. At the
end of the day though, i'm inclined to decide that there is no real
answer or formula to that question. It's complete randomness.
and not much else. - I need this record, but how can afford this? Is there any reason that every copy for sale are stacked in Italy?
- fucked that prices go this high/like this, but often for mediochre records...whilst the diamonds in the ruff lurk in the shadows out there;)
