Not a bad album, also not a great album tho. But that's a different discussion. It's not a bad sounding record, but my u.s. polydor copy has some of the most irritating track to track volume variation. Obviously you can say just turn it up and down, but I'm not tryna get up every 5 minutes. It happens from the first minute of the album. Father of day opens with an insanely loud burst of sound. Much louder than audio preceding it would have you ready for. The song "father of day" itself is then a bit overly quiet- time to turn it up. Really the worst offense is "Saturn, Lord of..." The high-pitched guitars will murder your ears, and if you're smart you jump to turn the volume wayyy down. Sadly it's really only listenable at an inadequate volume.
Anyways, it's kinda just a bum on a good album like this. Makes me hesitant to put it on. Might try a European pressing to see if it's any different.
