I wrote a review for this AWESOME album when it came out when I worked at Tower Records to help sell more copies. This was the discovery of a lifetime, for me, as I have always been a funk music fan, and even though I was a lifelong Prince fan, even he was quite lacking around this time. I can't remember the exact words, but here goes:

"Imagine the world as a pizza. The crust is the foundation, that which is known & always shall be (Parliament Funkadelic, Stevie Wonder, Prince). The rest of the world is covered in cheese, the pop pap we are forced to endure... simple music for simple minds.

Now THIS... THIS is the sauce! The spicy, tangy, savory FUNK we have all been missing over the years! Prince, Parliament, Stevie, Earth Wind & Fire are all present & accounted for! Even a little Terence Trent D'Arby & (early) Lenny Kravitz thrown in just to keep it fresh & saucy!"

Anyways, I still feel that way about Dag. I liked them so much, i had the honor of meeting them several times, and got to know Brian Dennis (guitar), to where he remembered my name the next time he saw me, as I went to every (AWESOME!:) show in the Bay Area (FREE, one of the only real perks of record store work).

Their second album is just as awesome. But, this being the first of it's kind in a long, LONG time, is in my "Desert Island Top 10" for good!
