Force One Network

Profile:

Force One Network were a soul/R&B group based in the San Francisco/Oakland area of California The group's leader, Jimi Dright, was a member of the Digital Underground collective, where he was known as Chopmaster J. It is he that you see in the videos for "Doowutchyalike" and "The Humpty Dance". Upon forming Force One Network, he brought in a then new vocalist named Dave Hollister, who used the alias "Blacque Angell" for their first album. Hollister credited himself as "The Black Angel" in songs by 2Pac, including "Keep Your Head Up" and "Brenda's Got A Baby". The group became known for the use of "Spirit" on the "Boyz-N-The Hood" soundtrack, which lead to a contract with Quincy Jones' Qwest label. Their first and only album for Qwest would result in two more singles, "Sista Sista" and "Somethin' About You". Hollister would leave Force One Network and find greater success with BLACKstreet. It would be five years before the group returned with a second album, and by then, Hollister found his name as a "featured" artist with the band. With minimal success, Force One Network would cease creating any new recordings, while Hollister would continue to prosper as a solo vocalist.
